ITS A GIRL!

As you might have gathered from the pink, we are having a baby girl!!!! Estella Morena Mayorquin is due September 2, 2008!

It was no surprise as Oscar and I have been getting the girl vibes since about 8 weeks. I would have been shocked had the ultrasound tech had announced it was a boy, but instead she validated what we already knew. At one point during the ultrasound Oscar practically jumped out of his seat and asked, "WHAT WAS THAT?" convinced he had seen a penis! The ultrasound tech said, I am pretty sure that was a foot. Nice try, Oscar.

How incredible ot see your baby moving inside of you. Last time we saw her she just looked like a lima bean with a parachute and now she has the cutest little nose, her mommy's feet and the most precious little lips! At one point she was sucking her thumb just chilling like the little Nicaraguan that she is :) I joked with Oscar that in 21 years that will be our little girl in a hammock sipping a tona (a Nicaraguan beer) ... we laughed.

I spent the rest of the day dreaming about what I want to teach my little girl: I want to teach her to be strong but not be afraid or embarrassed to be weak, that she is the most precious creature on this Earth and for anyone to tell her or treat her otherwise is proposterous and a misunderstanding and error on their part, and that her mommy and papito will be proud of her and support her through every experience she ever has in whatever capacity she will need us.

How amazing it is to be the mother of a daughter, I have just begun to grasp the magnitude of it.

Estella Morena, you will be so loved. I can't wait to meet you!
